An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Accountant to join an acquisitive division (local government) under the huge umbrella of a large Blue Chip organisation.
The role is specialising in closedown of the financial statements. Specific responsibility to ensure the statutory closedown timetable is met and the changes to the financial reporting standards implemented. This will also involve day to day management of accounting staff, VAT & Treasury Management
The position will be partly based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset where the financial accounting support for a local authority is provided through a shared services centre as well as being present on site in Fleet Hampshire.
Following the successful completion of the local borough\'s statutory accounts the role will potentially be involved with wider aspects of the organisations Local Government services as the financial services offering by the organisation is undergoing expansion
Experience/Skills:
The Chief Accountant will be CCAB, ACCA, ACA CIPFA or CIMA qualified with strong local government background. You will have proven Management experience along with vast experience in using complex financial management systems, you will have good Microsoft office skills especially excel (advanced), working knowledge of Cedar Finance system is desirable along with knowledge and application of local authority accounting regulations and production. A high level of analytical and communication skills is required
Full driving licence as travel between two areas is required
